Acts 2:42

The early church experienced God’s Favor. Acts 2:42 describes them as a group who devoted themselves to the Apostle’s teaching (the Word), fellowship, the breaking of bread, and to prayer. That describes what we’d like to do in each Life Group meeting, and we welcome all who want to experience Jesus the same way. Group size is limited to 35 people. 

Schedule: We meet for potluck dinner and prayer on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:15 pm.

Creative Sewing

Our group is designed around sewing and sharing ideas, creating items for yourself, and gifts for others. If you want to learn or know how to sew, come and fellowship with others who share the same heart.

• We will learn basic methods of sewing

• Learn new techniques

• Do projects for yourself and others

• Encourage each other by sharing testimonies of God’s goodness

• Share a meal each time we meet

• Build spiritual foundations one stitch at a time

God has placed in each of us the creativity to create and design, and through that, we will create a beautiful tapestry of friendship, love, and a bond as we use our hands to bring about his love for one another.

If you have a sewing machine, that’s great. You may bring yours or use one of mine.
Items needed: scissors, pins, cutting mat, rotary cutter, material, sewing machine

Games Group

Adam and Grace Deal lead New Life’s Games Group. They are passionate about creating opportunities for our entire New Life family to connect, fellowship, and have fun together. Activities are generally planned once a month over the course of 9 out of 12 months. Watch the Life Group table in the church lobby as well as bulletin flyers for information regarding newly planned activities. We hope you will plan to join us!

God and America

We utilize DVD's, books, and other media for launching our discussions. The emphasis will center on God’s providential hand in our country’s formation and national life. Also included will be the men and women who God worked through to shepherd our nation through critical times to promote an understanding of living and leading as a Christian American. Our fellowship together always includes time to share thanksgiving and stories of our life with Jesus, and we love having the opportunity to pray with and for each other. We start by sharing a meal together, so please talk with Allison or Chuck Houchins if you would like to help with food.

Schedule: Our group meets on the third Sunday each month at 12:30 (right after morning worship) and concludes at 2:30. We meet in the VHQ at New Life.

Grief Share

The Grief Share Support Group provides help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. The group provides a safe, welcoming place where people can understand the difficult emotions of grief. At this 13-week group, you’ll receive valuable guidance and tips, leading you to relief, comfort, and peace of mind.

Hebrew Roots and The Church

When we meet, we’ll:

• Explore our Jewish Roots by taking a journey with Jesus

• Uncover the prophetic significance of Christians, Jews, and Muslims today

• Discuss the question: Are Jews a unique people?

• Look at the Mosaic and Abrahamic Covenants

• Discover the Highway of God in the book of Isaiah

• Find out how the Apostle Paul saw his countrymen – the Jewish People

• Learn the history of Christians and Jews – and what that means for me today

Schedule: 1st Tuesday of every month from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the VHQ at New Life

His Hands and Feet

We are an eclectic group of willing volunteers who love to serve our New Life Family with a variety of talents and abilities. We are ready to help others in a practical, hands-on way, serving as the Hands and Feet of Christ. It is also our heart’s desire to help group members expand their own set of abilities and talents as we work alongside one another. 

Some examples of projects we have completed are building handicap accessible ramps, small plumbing repairs, all varieties of yard work, cleaning, packing, moving, cutting/delivering firewood, installing bathroom safety, delivering meals, cleaning gutters, building sheds, and hauling trash. We've also made new friends along the way. We simply want to help others in any way we can. 

All ages and physical abilities are included and welcome in our group. We enjoy learning from one another as there are a variety of skillsets and experiences within our group. We hope that you will join us in being the Hands and Feet of Jesus.  

We meet monthly to share a potluck meal, discuss projects, and to fellowship. We love to meet new church members and help them get connected. New Life members can request help from our group by contacting the church office at 828-632-9589.

Men’s Life Group

If you are interested in sharing activities like wild game cookouts, fellowship, outings, trips, fishing, fireside chats, fish fries, and other outdoor activities, then this is the group for you!

When we’re together, we’ll share heart-to-heart talks as God reveals the heart He’s placed in each one of us. We want to discover the heart of the Father to find out who we are as husbands, fathers, brothers, and leaders. Fellowship and prayer flow from our activities. 

Schedule: Our group will meet on the 4th Saturday of every month at 6:00 pm.

New Life Garden Group

Our group will plant and care for a garden at New Life. Join us as we:

• Learn about planting, tending, and harvesting from more experienced gardeners

• Offer seasoned gardeners the chance to pass their skills on to others

• Develop and experience new and deepening friendships

• Provide food for our New Life family, the local community with food needs, and our group members

If you enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, and fellowship, this is the group for you. And, if you’re tired of the tasteless, overpriced produce from the grocery store, you’ll savor delightful, home-grown fruits and vegetables.
